Not every product belongs in a standard flip-top tube. Specialty tube formats solve specific dispensing challenges — and they can become your brand’s signature. Here’s every specialty format available in the Indian market.
Dropper Tubes
A squeeze tube with a small-diameter nozzle tip that dispenses product in controlled drops. The tube body is squeezable, but the orifice is narrow enough to create a drop-by-drop flow.
Best for: Eye serums, face oils, concentrated treatments, and any product where micro-dosing matters.
Typical orifice: 2-4mm diameter
Cost premium: 5-10% over standard tubes due to precision moulding
Applicator Tubes
These tubes have a built-in applicator tip that replaces the need for fingers. Options include:
- Silicone tip: Soft, flexible — massages product into skin during application. Popular for eye creams and anti-aging serums.
- Metal roller ball: Cool-touch stainless steel ball for de-puffing and cooling. The metal sensation creates a sensory experience.
- Sponge tip: Cushion applicator for foundation, BB cream, and colour cosmetics.
- Spatula tip: Flat paddle for mask products and thick formulations.
Cost premium: ₹3–₹8 per unit depending on applicator type.
Nozzle Tubes
Extended nozzle tips for precision application. The nozzle is typically 15-25mm long and tapers to a fine point.
Best for: Spot treatments, acne gels, lip products, under-eye treatments, and any product applied to a specific area.
Oval & Flat Oval Tubes
Not round but oval or flat in cross-section. These tubes stand out on shelves because they look different from everything else. They also lay flat in handbags and travel kits.
Best for: Hand creams, travel-size products, and brands wanting visual differentiation.
Note: Requires custom extrusion tooling — not all manufacturers offer oval profiles.
Large-Diameter Tubes (D50+)
Oversized tubes for body lotions, hair masks, conditioners, and professional-use products. Volumes range from 150ml to 500ml.
Consideration: Large tubes often need a stand-up cap (inverted storage) so the product flows to the opening by gravity.
